Gballoi (the prophet band) is a traveling educational and performing group from the country of Ghana with over 30 years experience in the field of West African Music and Dance.
The History of the group begins in Accra, a city on the coast of Ghana known world-wide for its rich, intricate, and notoriously difficult musical traditions.
Gballoi's Mission is to promote Ghanaian culture through performance, instruction and creation of traditional and contemporary dance and music in the United States and across the world.
Members Ben Anie Apang, Zorkie Nelson, David Okoe Nunoo and Robert Paa'T Nunoo create original music for traditional bells, hand drums, shakers and flutes as well as western instruments such as guitar, bass, keyboard and kickdrum.
"Gballoi" is a Ghanaian word meaning a prince or "prophet" who gives divine insight to members of his community.
